Those of you celebrating Free Comic Book Day tomorrow (and really, why wouldn’t you be?) can find no less than six Periscope members out on the town promoting their wares. Catch Erika Moen, Terry Dodson, and Jeremy Barlow signing at the Portland branch of Things From Another World from 11:30 to 1:30. Or, if you’re in the Beaverton area, head to the local TFAW branch to see Ben Bates from 11:30 to 1:30, and Colleen Coover and Paul Tobin from 1:30 – 3:30!
There are plenty of other events taking place in the Portland area, so be sure to stop in at Floating World, Bridge City, Cosmic Monkey, and all the other fine comics-hawking establishments for maximum free comic fun.
See you there!

If you have any interest in the process of writing comics — or really creating anything at all — Shane McCarthy’s nitty-gritty interview with Jeremy Barlow is definitely what you should be reading this week. Get the scoop on Jeremy’s current projects, his advice to a younger self, and the harsh realities of pushing through self-doubt in the creative process.
With every new project I start, I feel like I have to learn how to write all over again. It’s agony, and I wonder why I do this to myself, and what I was thinking even following this career, and how this’ll be the last thing I ever do because I’m all used up. And once I’ve wasted enough time on that, once I can no longer procrastinate, I sit down and plow through.
This is how magic happens, everyone.
(You can also talk with Jeremy in person at the Stumptown Comics Fest this weekend! Find him at Table L06.)

“…our lives are all a long string of small decisions that require sacrifice and compromise, and even the smallest choices affect those around us. The true test is how you navigate those options while minimizing the damage and staying true to yourself. The higher the stakes, the greater the potential for a fall.”
Dustin Cabeal of Comic Bastards has a snappy 5-question interview up with Jeremy Barlow about his work on HAWKEN: GENESIS. The collected hardcover, previously released in digital-only single issue installments, came out from Archaia Entertainment last week. Learn more about the comic here.
