Happy New Year from Periscope! We’ve got a lot of new comics that have come out since our last blog post, so let’s cut to the chase.
New this week there’s BANDETTE #6 from Colleen Coover and Paul Tobin, available on Comixology for only 99 cents. (If you haven’t caught up on Bandette yet, you can also pick up the very handsome hardcover collection of issues 1-5 right here.) Things are heating up in the conflict between Bandette and the shady organization known as FINIS.
Also from Colleen and Paul with art by Wook-Jin Clark is ADVENTURE TIME: FLIP SIDE, a new miniseries from BOOM! Studios. Join the cast of Adventure Time in a new, uh, adventure! Read more in this interview with the creative team on Newsarama, then head to the signing event this Saturday, January 11th at Cosmic Monkey Comics here in Portland. More details on the Facebook event page.
(Also check out this sweet preview of Wook-Jin Clark’s upcoming creator-owned book MEGAGOGO, due out February 24th. More on that later.)
In other news, Jeff Parker has another issue of KINGS WATCH out with artist Marc Laming and there’s BATMAN ’66 #25 on Comixology today and Jeff’s got his first issue of AQUAMAN out now with Sea of Storms. It’s #26 and can be found a comic shop near you. Get on it!
Taking over from regular series artist Steve Lieber we’ve got Rich Ellis drawing SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDER-MAN #7 this month, and the reviews have been glowing! David Pepose at Newsarama says “the transition from Lieber to Ellis is nigh-near seamless, as they both share that expressive, scratchy style that has made SUPERIOR FOES such an underrated read. To be honest, Ellis might even be more skilled.” Read the whole review here.
Brett Schenker of Graphic Policy says “Ellis takes a cue of the artistic success that is Hawkeye and Daredevil, and applies it to this already excellent series.” More from his review here.
We’ve got loads more to tell, but this post is already enormous, so stay tuned tomorrow for more Periscope news.
